I needed to connect AN fittings to my fuel system somehow so the choice was either to use tube nuts like Javad did on his 80 turbo or just go nuts and replace all of the hard metal fuel lines with braided stainless steel all the way back to the tank. Since my lines were very rusty (the output from the fuel filter snapped off the end of the line on removal!) I decided to replace it all. I ended up ordering more than I needed so it cost me more than it could have to do the job but in the end it still wasn't bad. I got all my parts from American Streetrod which has a nice online ordering system which lets you pick out just what you need and browse the product images to find out what will work for each segment of the job. I list below two different tables. one is for replacing the plastic fuel lines with -6 braided hose and fittings as laid out in the standard Audi type 85 format (4000/coupe/urq). The second one is for the full replacement of the hard fuel lines routed inside the car. The fittngs for the fuel tray are slightly different as I changed which way the fuel filter output points so it is closer to the hole I made in the floor underneath the rear seat. All fittings listed are Earls "swivel seal" -6 hose fittings unless otherwise noted.

The OEM plastic lines cost roughly $70 for the pair from the dealer (if you get a discount) and have the dissadvantage of sticking to the standoff adapter on the pump making it impossible to remove the line without first cutting the hose so t will clear the electrical connector on the pump. Hard to explain but you know what I mean if you've ever taken apart the fuel pump tray.

Now, here's the parts list for my full conversion to -6 lines that run to a pair of bulkheads mounted on my firewall which I can then tap into with two shorter lines that will go to my fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator.
